The Board of Australian Theatre for Young People announce new Board Member
Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp) today announced the appointment of Janine Lapworth to the Board of Directors of atyp with effect from 21 May 2012.
An intellectual property and entertainment lawyer by profession, Janine Lapworth has held positions such as Senior Lawyer at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Assistant General Counsel and Company Secretary of ESPN STAR Sports in Singapore.
Janine says “I'm very pleased to be joining the Board of atyp. For me, performing was a big part of growing up. It's great to be part of a team giving similar opportunities to young people today."
Janine returned to Australia in 2010 and is currently working as a researcher and international regulatory consultant. She brings to atyp extensive experience with a range of media and arts organisations, as teacher, performer, adviser and board member.
Fraser Corfield, Artistic Director of atyp, says “The staff of atyp is blessed to work with a Board that combine high level strategic thinking and specialist skills with a genuine passion for the work we do with young people. To this end we are very excited to welcome Janine.”
Michael Ihlein, Chair of atyp Board of Directors, says “Janine will be a great addition to the Board. Her love of the arts and extensive legal experience will be a great asset to the company.”
Following the appointment of Janine Lapworth the full Board of atyp will comprise Fraser Corfield (Artistic Director and CEO), Claire Duffy, Nancy Fox, Alex Holcomb, Michael Ihlein (Chair), Nick Marchand, Cathy Robinson, Edward Simpson and Simon Webb.
