It's official! Autumn has finally started tickling toes in the ATYP offices. Yesterday I had to conduct the modest but moving ceremony that is tracking down the electric heater, plugging it in and reciting a quiet prayer in the hope that it doesn't blow up and set my socks on fire. I'm pleased to report all augurs well for another winter.

It's been all about the marketing team here for the past few weeks. You might have noticed the launch of not one, but THREE important campaigns! In case you've missed them let me fill you in.

  1. We're moving! In just six weeks time, we’re moving to new offices on William St in Woolloomooloo while our new theatre is built here at the Wharf! We will still be running all the workshops, productions, commissions and programs that we have now, they'll just be in different venues but all still very close by. Check out our website  for details.

  2. Our Annual Appeal is on! Yes, the national youth theatre is a Not for Profit charity that relies on the generosity of our extraordinary supporters in order to keep our doors open and our programs running each year. We made some fantastic discoveries about the impact ATYP has on our community following a huge research survey we conducted last year. You can see the highlights in our short 2018 Appeal videohere. Every little bit makes a huge difference to us, now more than ever as we prepare to move! Thank you for your support.

  3. We're having a farewell party! After 20 years at The Wharf it's time for us to say goodbye to our crazy spaces. They might have been hot in summer, cold in winter, loud when you need them to be quiet and light when you wanted you them dark, but they have always been filled with a joy and love that made them a home. We're inviting everyone that's been in and about ATYP for the past 20 years to join us for a drink, a laugh and a last dance on Friday 1st June. But remember- you need to buy your tickets! Get your friends organised and jump online here to book your place.

Aside from all of this, I'm very excited to have started rehearsals for Impending Everyone, the first of our annual ATYP Foundation Commissions for actors aged 14 -17. It's been a while since I've been in a rehearsal room full of teenagers, and it's more fun than ice magic!

As always there's plenty going on here and around the country in schools, with playwrights and in workshops. Get in touch with us if you want to get involved with ATYP.

Until next month
