Parliamentary debate meets School Yard Rules: Tantrums Included!

Using Hansard transcripts, newspaper articles and online content, our creative team has examined the political activity that has surrounded “Safe Schools” over the past year, with hilarious and heart-wrenching results.
In 2014 the Abbott government committed a small amount of federal funding to an anti-bullying program known as 'Safe Schools’.
In 2016, the funding was scrapped, the program was investigated and a political storm brewed.

What sparked this reaction?
Who will this effect?
And won’t somebody please think of the children?!

The Inner West Youth Theatre shines a magnifying glass on this political circus, this policy and why there has been so much uproar. If you haven’t seen any of the previous Ashfield Youth Theatre’s work, this would be the perfect opportunity to get a bite-sized slice of what these amazing young people are capable of.

"Activists push taxpayer-funded gay manual in schools." - The Australian
“We are in the midst of a culture war. And vulnerable children are being used as cannon fodder.” - SMH.
“It’s changing school language, changing bathrooms — it’s changing the whole school environment.” - Daily Telegraph.
“Safe schools can save lives. Well, it could have saved lives if it wasn’t gutted by the Turnbull Government.” – The Project.
