National Studio

The Fresh Ink National Studio takes places at the gorgeous artist retreat of Riversdale in NSW.

Every year we bring together 20 of Australia’s most interesting and exciting emerging playwrights and theatremakers for a week’s program of masterclasses, workshops and mentoring sessions given by some of the leading figures in Australian theatre.

Past tutors on the Studio include Ross Mueller, Peta Murray, Chris Mead, Lachlan Philpott, Caleb Lewis, Vanessa Bates and Ola Animashawun (from the Royal Court in London).

At the Studio, participants devise monologues that are developed further into pieces for performance that make up The Voices Project stage show. The week is also an opportunity to forge friendships and relationships with peers from across the country.

‘The Studio opened my eyes to the opportunities for writers and a whole community I had previously not known existed’ - Amanda Yeo, 2012 National Studio participant.

The 2012 Fresh Ink National Studio took place from Monday 3rd to Saturday 8th September and you can find out about what went on, on the Fresh Ink Blog.

‘I learnt more in a week than I did in high school’ - Pollyanna Nowicki, 2012 National Studio participant.

The 2013 National Studio takes place from 1st to 6th September and the call for applications will open shortly.
