HARRY COOK

In 2008 I starred in two feature films: Accidents Happen, playing Academy Award winner, Geena Davis's on-screen son, Larry Conway, and The Hedonist, playing a lovable surfer boy called Archie Cox. At the end of 2008 I decided I wanted to be around the theatre again and had heard great things about atyp. I auditioned for a role in a production being directed by Lee Lewis called Citizenship, which was written by Mark Ravenhill, and somehow landed the lead role of Tom. We rehearsed all through January and performed around 14 shows in February. I can't explain the rush I felt being in front of a live audience. Throughout 2008 I had become so used to doing "take" after "take", that when it came to acting in front of a live audience where your first "take" was the one you had to get right, it made me realise just how much I loved acting.

I had the privilege of working with passionate and unbelievably talented people, and having creative minds like Lee Lewis and Lachlan Philpott behind the wheel of the production was such a pleasure. I learnt a whole different angle on acting. And especially, due to the material we were all dealing with, I learnt how to not let anything faze me.

atyp gave me such courage and guts as an actor, and since being involved, 2009 has seen me represented by RGM Artist Group and secure three short films and a television series called My Place. I travelled to Los Angeles in April, signed with Magnolia Entertainment (Management), did screen-tests for American projects and plan to travel to Los Angeles in January 2010 for pilot season.

I couldn't be happier with what atyp offered me.
