ALISON RICHARDSON
Alison held the position of Community Outreach Worker at Powerhouse Youth Theatre where she directed and produced several events for marginalised and disadvantaged youth. Due to Alison's particular interest and passion for working with young people with a disability she has established her own company, sliced bread attraction, the only disability arts organisation in Western Sydney. With sliced bread attraction Alison has coordinated events for the last four International Days Of People with a Disability, Wake me Up Before You Impro (2004), Karaoke World (2005), Get Toasted! Performance Training Program (2006) and Toasted Inferno (2007).
She coordinated Sydney's second only inclusive nightclub, Club Wild at Bankstown YMCA (2005), volunteered on Club Wild (2004) and was the Sydney liaison for Club Wild Campbelltown 2006. In 2006 Alison also coordinated a digital storytelling project, Traveling Decade for the Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association. She has worked extensively as a drama tutor/director for various disability services in South West Sydney including The Junction Works, AFFORD and Ability Options where she devised with the group performances based on their interests and capabilities.
Most recently Alison directed and produced the My Space, My Place project which spanned Western Sydney, engaging over 50 people with disabilities in various arts forms. Alison also works for NSW's peak arts and disability organisation, Accessible Arts, as the Creative Programs Coordinator for Western Sydney.
Alison has recently being awarded the 2007 Australia Council for the Arts Young Leaders Award for her commitment to community arts.
