SARA RITCHIE
Sara Ritchie graduated from NIDA (Movement Studies) in 2004 and holds a Bachelor of Communication in Theatre and Media from Charles Sturt University. In 2005/2006 Sara was the Artistic Director of Cirkidz, Australia's longest running youth circus.
She was the Assistant Director of
Y - Visions of World Youth, produced by Cirque du Soleil for the 2007 and 2004 Oxfam International Youth Parliaments and featured in the documentary
Beats across Borders screened on SBS.
In 2006 Sara worked on the Doha Asian Games with David Atkins Enterprises and was the Movement Director on
Waiting for Godot for the State Theatre Company of South Australia. She choreographed
The Magic Flute for the Elder Conservatorium of Music and choreographed Cirkidz in the feature film
Hey Hey It's Esther Blueberger starring Toni Collette and Keisha Castle Hughes. From 1998-2001 Sara performed with Circus Oz, touring nationally and internationally throughout Asia, Europe and America and has also performed with Legs on the Wall, touring to Singapore for the Opening of The Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. Sara has worked in London with physical theatre legends Kathryn Hunter and Marcello Magni at The National Theatre Studio and performed at The Edinburgh Festival in IN SITU. In 2002 Sara was cast in the musical theatre production
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe directed by Nadia Tass, playing cover to the lead singing and acting role of Lucy and performing in the acrobatic ensemble.
Sara has taught physical theatre and circus for the Australian Theatre for Young People
atyp, Sydney Festival, NIDA Open Program, The Song Room, Restless Dance Company, the London Circus Space and New York University. In 2008/2009 Sara was Movement Advisor for The Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) and is the 2009 Head Judge for Wakakirri - National Story Telling Festival. Sara has also worked extensively in Events and in the Corporate training industry across Australia.
