2012 Term-based workshops to build skills while you build performances
Develop your skills, gain performance experience and make new friends who love theatre as much as you do!! Our semester ensemble classes provide you with a weekly dose of atyp excitement, all here at The Wharf. The classes take place alongside NSW public school terms and are semester (two terms) based.
The first term is spent looking at different theatre styles and techniques each week and the second involves working together to devise a piece for inclusion with the end of semester performances, a showcase of your work, where your ideas are put centre stage! The end of semester performances are something everyone looks forward to here at atyp: a chance to present your story under lights in a professional theatre with a huge crowd – what could be better?
We have some exciting new developments in 2012 – we are expanding the age group of our Musical Theatre Ensemble and we are continuing with our Emerging Theatre Makers Ensemble for 18-26 year olds – these classes are the perfect place to experiment and learn from a great network of other theatre makers!
We are also thrilled to introduce two new ensemble classes: The Creative Thinkers Ensemble and the Technical Production Ensemble. The Creative Thinker ensemble is based on the success of our Smart Artz program, this class will connect a group of talented young people (you) with an experienced tutor and two of Australia’s arts specialists. The topics covered are new and inventive every week – this class will explore creative brainstorming, performance, music, film making and poetry! Our new Technical Production Ensemble gives participants hands on practice with all aspects of technical production – lighting, sound, stage and production management, and front of house – with practical experience on atyp productions and performances.
We are now taking enrolments for all of our ensemble classes for Semester 1, 2012! Book early to avoid disappointment, they fill up fast.
