Boy Overboard by Patricia Cornelius adapted from the novel by Morris Gleitzman
Adelaide Fringe Festival 14-18 March 2006; Port Lincoln 22-23 March 2006

atyp's production philosophy is to produce new performance works which reflect the world and experiences of young Australians. With over 2000 unauthorised child arrivals applying for refugee protection visas between 1 July 1999 and 30 June 2003 (not including children transferred to and detained on Nauru and Manus Island) and with a majority being held in mandatory detention, the story of Boy Overboard is a startling reflection of the contemporary world. Morris Gleitzman's epic and poignant work makes for a dynamic theatrical response to the recent journeys of many young refugees to our shores.

Skate by Debra Oswald
Sydney 6-15 October 2005;Belfast Festival at Queens, Belfast, Northern Ireland 26-30 October 2005

Skate by Debra Oswald began life as an atyp on the road, CREATE A PLAY project. In 2002 writer Debra Oswald travelled to Deniliquin in regional NSW to research the incredible story of how local youth campaigned for twenty years to have a skate park built in their town. The resulting play, Skate, premiered at atyp in 2003, toured the region in the same year, was published by Currency Press and was then invited to perform alongside the world’s best within the 2005 Belfast Festival at Queens.
