ATYP’s workshop program is where the story begins. We pride ourselves on not only sharing acting techniques but also on providing a safe space where young people’s thoughts and opinions are encouraged and valued. Led by some of the industry’s most experienced tutors, all of whom are working professionals, be challenged, build self-confidence and of course discover as much as you can about the dramatic process. At ATYP you don’t just join an acting class, you join a community!
Workshops are our access point for young people of any experience to work with industry professionals. At ATYP we pride ourselves on the quality of our tutors and their willingness to share their experiences and skills with you.
During Terms 1 and 3, participants explore a variety of theatre styles as well as building movement and voice skills. Terms 2 and 4 are all about devising an original presentation for our end-of-semester performances – a show devised by you, under lights, in front of an excited audience and in our professional theatre space. What could be better?
We also offer our ensemble students the chance to join our theatre going club. This is where we take ATYP students to different theatres and productions at a special discounted rate. This offer is not for parents. This is about young people going to the theatre with ATYP representatives, watching theatre and discussing theatre with people of their own age and creating a future generation of theatre goers.
So please come on down to the wharf and don’t just join a course. Join a community that’s supportive, creative, professional and fun!!
