A group portrait of three young adult theatre artists standing and sitting against a dark teal backdrop. A person wearing a navy top and red skirt is seated on a stool in the centre, while two others stand on either side, dressed casually in jeans and T-shirts. All three face the camera with a relaxed, confident expression.

The Last Train to Madeline

A kaleidoscope of memory, music and the cost of childhood dreams.

A sweltering small-town summer in Wangaratta. Eight-year-olds Maddy and Luke first meet. Maddy is convinced of two things: her mum is a famous rockstar, and if she travels the world for long enough she’ll eventually find her.

Follow Maddy and Luke from eight, to seventeen, to twenty-three years old as they reminisce and dream about what once was, what could one day be, and all the confusing and painful stuff in between. Backed by a ‘So Fresh’ soundtrack that defined a generation and spanning the most formative years of all our lives, ATYP's Artistic Director in collaboration with Savanna Wegman, Spencer Herd & Oliver Beard, brings their signature brand of visually poetic storytelling to this story of a magical world of adolescence and suburban dreams.

The Last Train To Madeline showcases six performers aged ten to twenty-six and will be the premiere production in ATYP’s new performance space – The Popsy.
