Two performers lead a protest chant under bright stage lights: one holding a “CARING FOR COUNTRY” sign and shouting into a megaphone, the other raising a fist. Behind them, a screen reads “STAND UP AND FIGHT!” with more performers and tents in the background.

The Resistance

Set in the arena of the climate justice movement and social media, The Resistance is a giant protest rally.

The Resistance explores the power of friendship, the pain of ambition and the deliciousness of potato chips. Interactive theatre-maker Kip Chapman (Destination Mars, APOLLO 13: Mission Control) takes over The Rebel Theatre and immediately destroys the fourth wall, welcoming the audience in on the action.

You are personally invited – in fact, you’re downright encouraged – to jump into this wholehearted theatrical celebration of the power of collective action. And trust us…a lot can happen in 90 minutes.

Put your hand up if you’re ready to save the world.

A group of young activists stand behind a large hand-painted banner reading “WELCOME EVA,” holding protest-style posters above their heads. In front, a performer in a patterned dress speaks passionately with outstretched arms on a brightly coloured stage.
A performer stands atop a scaffold platform surrounded by cables and screens, delivering a speech. One monitor displays surveillance camera grids, while another shows lines of glowing code under vivid stage lighting.
A performer in a patterned dress and backpack climbs a scaffold structure, gripping a metal pole while looking upward with urgency. The set around them is filled with cables, props, and colourful fabric.
A performer in a red sports singlet stands downstage with hands clasped to their chest, singing or speaking emotionally. In the background, other performers gather near a green tent under moody blue and green lighting.
A performer in a denim jacket with bold earrings stands with arms crossed, looking determined. Behind them, another performer in an apron watches, framed by a cluttered workshop-like set.
