Class Clowns
You don’t need to be a comedian – just bring your ideas, and we’ll help find the funny.
ATYP is thrilled to partner with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to host Class Clowns, the national comedy competition and workshop program for young people aged 14–18 (Years 9–12).
Whether you’ve always wanted to try stand-up, sketch, character comedy or musical comedy – or you’re simply curious – Class Clowns is your chance to jump in. You can take part in the free workshop with no obligation to perform, working with professional comedian Harry Jun to develop ideas, build confidence and learn how to turn your funniest thoughts into original material.
For those who want to take the next step, participants can perform live on stage at The Rebel Theatre, Sydney’s home for young creatives. The funniest acts will go on to the State Finals and then to Melbourne for the National Grand Final, where the top prize includes $1,500 cash and a workshop package for their school.
At ATYP, we believe young voices lead the future of performance – and Class Clowns gives emerging comedians the opportunity to learn, experiment and, if they choose, take the spotlight.
If you would like to attend the performance, book your tickets here.
